June 12, 2005Valencia
I have glossed over much of Alicante, rest assured I had a good time. I am sorry that I did not write more often, except Internet was at a rate that I would have to come home immediately and take up a life as a prostitute to ever pay it off. I know you didnīt want that! I have come to realize that when I donīt have the next city planned out, I worry too much about it. Crystal warned me about it, but it has taken some getting used to. The city of Valencia is very beautiful. Today, Sunday, we went to the Ciudad des Artes y Ciencas (City of Arts and Sciences) an futuristic compound that stretches on for as far as the eye can see, and is a bit of a wallet buster to be honest, but the science museum is reasonably priced (if you want to go to the aquarium or planetarium, bring lots of $$$$). It also features a cafe that you can get reasonably priced drinks and snacks. The exhibits were fascinating, from a chicken hatchery to a device that detected your blood alcohol content (I was 0.0, thankyouverymuch). After spending a diverting hour and a half playing in the Suburb of Science, we navigated our way home for a siesta. It is starting to get really warm, and John and I napped away the hottest hours. We then hiked out to this Internet Cafe. The tourist office of Valencia provided us with an essential map for free, but you can buy them from machines attached to city route planners for 1.20. They also gave us some maps for free walking tours, which we will pursue tomorrow, along with planning our next leg. Comments
I had my first experiences with the village bars this week. Went to Parking with mari and Terry on Thursday and then Sky with Terry and Joey last night. It was a good time...although I would rather have been lying on a beach in Europe. Marisa's family is down for her grad (tomorrow). Miss ya! Posted by: Criss on June 12, 2005 09:19 PMi got your postcard....wheeeeee! also, my dad read it (it being a postcard and all) and said, 'what are you telling people?!', which cracked me up. also - prostituting oneself is a valid way to pay for internet bills/rent and groceries, whatever the case may be. lol. Posted by: 'becca on June 15, 2005 11:10 PMPostcard foulup. Mercedes, I accidentally took your postcard from Spain to Italy. I will try to mail it on!
