Wishful thinking at Whistler

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

Quote of the week this week goes to the lady at the information booth in Whistler village, who reassured us that although there were only two lifts open, the runs wouldn’t be crowded.
“A lot of people will be sleeping in, on account of the moisture in the air”.

Do you really think, that if you don’t use the word, we won’t notice it’s raining?

This photo was unfortunately not taken at Whistler where we were skiing but at Cypress where we were hiking last weekend. In the intervening week, the Pineapple Express has arrived, a warm wind direct from Hawaii, and most of this snow has gone, on account of the “moisture in the air”.

T, reflecting on the autumn leaves

Quote of the week has to go to T, the frustrated expat, trying to see the brighter side of being away from home…

“For all the stupid things the stupid Canadians do, every single day, you have to admit, they DO do foliage well”

(BTW this picture is from Quebec. The trees are just starting to turn here in Vancouver, but since my camera is in Calgary for repair, Quebec will have to substitute.)
