Let the world change you and you can change the world.

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

I do hope to find my natural talent, apply it with passion to the causes I believe in to change the world. I hope Peace Corps will be the initial experience that opens the first door to this path. I must make a contribution to improve this earth before I die. I just have to! I know I’m an Idealist, but the world needs us dreamers.

Medical stuff is on going but not too much left, hopefully all the paperwork/bloodwork has been done correctly and that can just go smoothly (unlikely). I’m ready - I want to go, Pacific Islands, South America, China, Jordan….anywhere, let’s do this thing!

I am a little nervous, it’s a long time to be away from the people I care about. I am worried about what if something happens to my family, will I know in time, can I make it to them quickly. I don’t know. But I’ve never been someone to let fear prevent me from living my life the way I want to. You can’t grow unless you stretch your limits, right? That usually involves fear and pain. That’s what I’m going through now, I’m over thinking it. If I could just go now! Man, if I didn’t go though, it would be a HUGE regret in my life.

LIVE Life everyday, never have regrets.

“It’s the heart afraid of breaking that never learns to dance. It is the dream afraid of waking that never takes the chance. It is the one who won’t be taken who cannot seem to give. And the soul afraid of dying that never learns to live.”

This seems so appropriate for all areas of my life right now.

UPDATE: Nominated for Business Advising program in the Pacific Islands because I didn’t have the language requirement for C./S. America. From what I could read on the Peace Corp website I found that the possible islands were: Fiji, Tonga, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Samoa, Micronesia and Palau. Of those, two that listed a business position were Vanuatu and Tonga. Time to do some research!

So no NGO development :(. Oh well, moving on!

So now my options are business advising in C./S. America or in the Pacific Islands. I'm an A-Match (Almost-Match) for C./S. America because of the language requirement. If I get picked I ... [Continue reading this entry]

“The world is all gates, all opportunities, strings of tension waiting to be struck.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have been told the first set of programs I could be in: NGO Development, Communications and IT, and Environmental and Water Resources Engineering. I told her my preferences were in that order, especially because NGOs (non-profit orgs) are what I ... [Continue reading this entry]

The interview

I had my interview last week, been too busy to blog until now. Everything went really well and it should! I've set myself up to be the perfect candidate - degreed, debt-free (well, almost), medical/legal issue free, enthusiastic and flexible!! I'd say ... [Continue reading this entry]

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step - Lao Tzu

Well here's my first Peace Corps post!  I have my interview for "the toughest job you'll ever love" on the 23rd. I feel pretty good about it, but can't help feeling doubt.  I don't see any reason for them not to take ... [Continue reading this entry]
