May 08, 2005Getting Ready
Well, time is drawing nearer. Our home is sold and we have been living in my parents' basement for about 3 weeks now. Luckily they have a big house and we are all surviving nicely. I have three days of work left, and Shawn has 8 days left. In between trying to sort out our work schedules, packing, and saying goodbye it doesn't seem like we have much time left in the day. It is hard to believe that two weeks from today we will be in Egypt. Seems more like something I have imagined. I think we were more prepared for Africa, perhaps because there wasn't so much going on in other aspects of our life, but we may be flying blind for this trip. At least we won't have extreme weather shocks, it has been gorgeus and hot here, we had a crazy April/ May with temps nearly reaching the 30's. A lot of people are convinced that going to Egypt right now is a dangerous decision. Some people look at you like you have completely lost all your "marbles"when you give your trip itinerary. We keep saying that our risk is probably greater driving to Vancouver on the highway. Well, we will have to prove them all wrong and show them how wonderful the Middle East really can be. Countdown is on.....
