Change of plans

I'm in london and have been in the London Eye, Tate Modern, London Bridge. I feel like an ultra tourist. I am really enjoying this trip with the exception of three things -

This is my first time staying in a hostel and I have discovered one thing...I am not a hostel kinda girl. Actually, I can't believe I am forking out $46 us dollars a night for a prison bed and loud snoring roommates.

The dollar being worth half its value is really something. Somehow I missed the memo.

Traveling alone has its benefits. I discovered that this type of trip is best experienced in the company of friends and loved ones.

Because of these things, I have decided to shorten my trip. I will be back in the states on the 27th of September and will only make it to London and Paris. I am fine with this because I know I will see the other spots at some point in my life (not going near a hostel).

Well, now I'm off to the British Museum. Antiques, Art, and Mummies oh my!

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your trip despite some big discoveries. Look into pensions as an alternative to hostels and get some earplugs sister! Also, give yourself some time to adjust. Long term travel is a lifestyle change; it takes some getting used to and setteling in. All it takes is meeting one right person and your whole attitude might change. That said, the finances are definitely stressful and you need to do what's in your heart. If you do come back, you should visit a less expensive part of the world where you can live in the lap of luxury for $20 a night!

Holly, are you crazy?!! Don't come back early, I think you are experiencing a little bit of homesickness....Maybe a change of scenery or a small town might do the trick. I lived in London for a year and it's not for everyone. If you don't like big cities you won't like it.... if you are short on cash take a side trip to Southern Spain or Morrocco...much cheaper....Take it from me, you probably won't make it back to Europe anytime soon, especially with 6 weeks of vacation to spend!!
