Rincon, PR

Hey All,

Moved to Rincon! What a spot! Called a surf school while sitting in the airport on my way home...they said to get to Rincon as fast as I could. Started working the next day! Bought a 70s Malibu, 350$ runs great. They call her Blue Crush. Its been owned by every surfer girl on the island for the past 20 years. Sticker reads: "Tell my boyfriend I'm surfing." Thats cool...I can roll with that. Staying at a little house on a point overlooking sandy beach. I can check the waves from my window! Had two good swells since I have been here...one snapped the longboard I took so long to put back together. Local surfers are used to the big waves so its a lesson in seeming like you know what you are doing every time it gets big. Season has come to an end so lessons are sparse and big wave sessions are coming to an end. Most everyone has gone home....nice for getting to know the off-season crowd. Lots of NY surfers seem to make this place their second home...some great...some not so great. Anyone thinking to come here, I would try to get it on the tail end or at the very begining of the season to avoid crowded breaks. I'm Back to NY on the 1st of July for some Rockaway action! Miss all you crazy Rock surfers! See you all soon! Get ready for some Hurricanes!!!! The STORM MUST COME.... -ben

What up Ben! Your an awesome Instructor buddy! Back in Denver now and missing the ocean incredibly. Ironic talking about NY surfing at the Rock, NY Times just ran a front page article on it and mentioned your shop! Look for the fax as I'll be sending it over this week. Take care pal and hope to catch up some time soon! I'll be looking for your shop in July when I get back into the city for a bit. Later.
