About Us
We currently live in Orange County as DINKs, and being like most Californians, we grew up elsewhere (Pennsylvania for Ellyse, Alaska for Eric). We’ve always enjoyed traveling, experiencing different countries, and tried to make the most of our vacations and business trips–but it’s just not enough. The world is far too big for just weekend getaways and 1-2 week trips. We figured the best way to solve this problem is to take a year off and see a whole bunch of places at once (We always knew all that tuition spent on engineering degrees would pay off for solving something one day).
How did we get started down this path? Originally, we started a “Boat” savings account back in 1997 with a half-baked vision of sailing around the world someday. It morphed into a “RTW” fund somewhere along the line, and any time bonuses, tax refunds, or other spare cash was available it got deposited. It’s been a lot of fun thinking of and planning this trip but has also required a committment to leave behind a comfortable life style.

Hey E&E,
It’s great to see pictures of you guys!! You look pretty much EXACTLY the same as you did almost 20 years ago!! I still remember Eric eating “ramen noodles” our freshman year at Lehigh. I also seem to remember a miscellaneous trash can getting destroyed for some unknown reason and a very early morning phone call from a mystery marine sargeant.

Of course we will…all the more reason to meet us somewhere exotic!!
