You know... "Love can build a Bridge." We are all rooting for you. Our girls are "conceiving" a plan to help in some way.. It ties in greatly to each of our girls "bridging" to the next level of Girl Scouts. Keep in touch. Best wishes.. AND we will be excited to see the pictures. Becky T.

Shirley,

I loved that book- ¨Three Cups of Tea¨! I was given the book by another reader of this blog, Kathy.
I was reminded of his quest to built a school in Pakistan when I was in Cerro Limon, as well. His tenacity, his courage, and his absolute resoluteness to help those people inspired me as I contemplated how to best help the Ngobe here as well.
Nothing is impossible.

In fact, I´ve decided to help Medo longterm-being their permanent grantwriter, as well as dealing with all their correspondence.

Being here has changed my whole perspective on my role in the world, and what I can to to make a difference.

If you are interested in helping in someway(helping find some volunteers?) you have my personal email, right? Contact me.

My friend Judith copies all your reports and sends them to her mother who lives(and loves!) to read them. I'm currently reading "Three Cups of Tea" about an American who built schools for impoverished villages in Parkistan. Before he could build the first school, however, he had to build a bridge for the same reason: women and children were drowning in the river. It's a noble cause you are undertaking. Be patient and tenacious and you will achieve your goal. Let me know if I can help.

What a tremendous, fantastic series! This is so well-written I felt I was walking the mountains with you. It's sad that with all the millions in development donor countries have spent, poverty like this continues to exist. This is where individuals like you can make such a difference - not with millions poured into government chests but with small, manageable projects that can truly change the course of lives. Many people see this kind of poverty - and walk on by. Few actually decide to do something about it. Well done!
