Travelclown beat me to it...:-)

The one thing I most missed when I was on the road was the actual notion of 'home'. Because I kept in forward motion, I missed that hub of safety, of 'going back to'.

I made many new friends - and somehow managed to stay in touch with all my previous ones (even in pre-Internet and blog days). In many parts of the world you'll be able to walk down the street anytime - that goes for large parts of southeast Asia, and in many rural areas (it's not the people - it's the animals!)

Bank tellers may well be even friendlier - you'll bring some spice into otherwise routine days. And the coffee - well, Ethiopia... I hope you're going there!

You'll have periods of homesickness, especially when things don't go as planned. But you'll find so much joy in the present that the nature of that homesickness will probably change... I'll be interested to read about whether what you miss from home changes once you're on the road.

You''ll soon discover that the best coffee in the world wasn't the one you thought...
That banktellers can be friendly in many countries...
And that if you initiate it, people will be happy to say HELLO! no matter in what language.

Those 10 things are the ones you THINK you're going to miss.
I agree with no.5. As for the rest, I think you might be surprised...
