Chengdu -> Qingcheng Shan
Great Panda Research Center, Chengdu

Pride, the Pandas’ “Ambassador”

They really don’t do much mure than eating and sleeping (but they’re so cute).

So cute… This one was born in October 2004, and got his personal nurse!

She: “Hey you lazy bum, get your arse down here!“
Of ook nog… Kom van die tak af!

He: “Gimme a break, dammit!”
Ofte… Tzal gaan ja!

Personally, I found the Red Pandas at least as sweet.

Wrong Season?
Climbing Qingcheng Shan

Qingcheng Shan: Kevin carrying the carrier.
Though he refused to pay any money…
BTW: I wonder what the fun is in “climbing” a hill this way. Must be a chinese thing?

You’d get dizzy climbing all those damn stairs…
…especially carrying a 50 kilo basket.

Errr… these munks are said to be “wrestling”…
Chinese wrestling must be great fun.

The Chinese name is sth like “Drawing Pen Through Earth”
Geef toe: ik zou jullie makkelijk kunnen wijsmaken dat ik langs hier naar beneden ben gekomen, niet?

The Mountain was first.

Kevin teasing his Chihuahua.
Never seen such a small dog acting so succesfully intimidating - till Kevin became friends with him.
(To Kev: it must have been a bitch, no doubt. ;-))

Almost at the top…

Marvellous (though foggy&dark) view from the top of Qingcheng Shan.

“Sunrise” view, and Kevin.
(I have the same pic w/o Kev, available on request… :-D)
(but not w/o the fog)

I bet you’d never guess what this is…
Inside the pagoda, there’s Lao Tse, founder of Taoism, sitting on his buffalo… Somehow they got the size of either the pagoda, or the buffalo’s horns wrong. Or would the Chinese be so humorous as to do this on purpose?
