After swimming out to the boat, anchored offshore, we navigated the shallow shoals around a peninsula of sand: destination Labuan. As we hit full speed Barry's hat flew off his head, so we slowly turned around and started to look for it. Didn't find the hat, but we did see a turtle surface only 20ft ahead of us. We approached it for a better look, but of course it disappeared below the surface and at an incredible speed dodged this way and that, avoiding us at all costs. The water was only about 15ft deep and the sand below was bright white, making the dark turtle easy to spot and follow. We chased it for a minute or so, unsuccessful. As we headed back out we spotted at least three more turtles, all subsurface, all huge! I know this will make all my dive buddies from Ko Tao jealous...
