November 22, 2004A few images of Brunei

Vijen's oil painting hanging in the multibillion dollar 6-star Empire Hotel art gallery. He has a fantastic and unique style, quite an amazing piece in person, picture does not do it justice... View image The Empire Hotel. Everything about this place is over the top. The main lobby area has about 5 levels of magnificent marble and multi-levelled, stacked dining areas. Marble mosaics everywhere, large tiger's eye gemstones decorating the railings of the staircase. Truly incredible. You can stay here for B$199, so maybe 150$CAD. View image Sunset at the Empire. Quite the contrast, between where you are where we are... you have sun and warm... we have slush and a very low snow line in the trees on Goat Mountain. I put a roof over the boat and trailer on the weekend winterizing them till spring. It was nice to be able to see a piece of Vijen's art. Do you have other samples? It reminds me, in a way, of some of the work he was doing here a 'few years ago.' Take care and please say Hello for us. Posted by: Henning on November 23, 2004 12:29 AMhaha, the pitcher plants in my pics are bigger, to bad I don't have a digital camera to post them with. Brunai looks awesome, Vijens art looks really neat, and the palace that you describe sound incredible. I'm so jealous of a normal bed and not traveling every day. Although, I did manage to get a couple hot showers in the past 2 days :) Enjoy your luxuries while you have them. Cheers, Hey you; R Posted by: tonto on November 25, 2004 10:26 AM |
