Thailand Photos

On Khao San, late at night, the vendors switch to selling View image">fried insects, mostly for the tourists, I think.

The nightly staple: View image">Red Bull, Samsong whisky, Coke, ice and Beer chang

Every night the Thai bartenders would put on a View image">fire show; a baton with lit ends. They could do amazing tricks...

View image">The view up the beach from our resort. The restaurant spills onto the beach when the weather is good, you can have a delicious meal in paradise, eh!

Chean, a tattoo artist, and I showing off his View image">latest work. relax, Mom, it's only henna. Still looks dark after 5 days though...

View image">Self shot in the evening after a day of sun. I think this is after I was sick. I had made the necklace out of shells from up the beach - became very popular with the thais. It's strange for a 'rich' farang to make things, they're supposed to be too lazy...

Jep's is the bungalow where I stayed. View image">Neat scene at night...

On Ko Chang, and everywhere else, they offer BBQ's at night. I paid 150baht (expensive) for these View image">massive prawns

Forgot to mention: When I was on Ko Chang for one night, we wandered down the beach from our huts to find a place to get some beverages. the brits had been there one night already and so met some swedish (yes, there are a lot of swedes!) friends of theirs. I was standing about for a moment and glanced around. I saw this one guy who looked mildly familiar, but almost thought nothing of it - with so many travellers in Thailand it's unlikely to run into a familair face... It turned out to be a friend of mine from SFU!!! we took first and second year classes together, lived in res together, and hung out every once in awhile... Here's Simon Gauthier and I, shocked as heck to have run into one another! What a strange coincidence!!!View image

The view up the beach at Ko Chang. a bit rockier than Ko Samet, but the foliage was stunning. View image

We missed the passenger ferry heading back to the mainland (the darn taxi stops for anyone and everyone, despite the fact that it's full to the brim with people... the taxi in this case is a small pickup with two bench seats in the back, covered by a canopy - luggage on top. We struggled to catch the vehicle ferry, but did. Unlucky for us it took us to the wrong pier, so we had to catch a 30 minute truck ride to teh correct pier so we could catch the minivan to bangkok.

Hi all,
I tried to make the photos more manageable, but may have failed. they no longer take up three screens, but you cannot see the whole image in the window that pops up. I have allowed the windows to be resized, however, so you can grab a corner of the box with the mouse and drag it to a larger size. There should also be scroll bars to view the image in parts. I still recommend saving the image to your desktop and opening it with the default program (just click twice on teh icon, grandma).
