December 10, 2004hippity hop - i'm in melbourne now!
it was off the next day from rainbow beach on another 4 hour bus ride to Brisbane where i immediately headed to the airport and managed to grab my plane to Melbourne. landed at 9pm that nite...shit...11 hours of just traveling. that's enough to kill anyone. Jo picked Darren and i up at the airport. i met Jo in Uluru. we had a good chance to get to know each other as we walked and talked for 3 hours around the giant rock. Jo is cool. Jo is fun. Jo can be ur friend too. she conceived and developed her own company, A little light. www.alittlelight.com.au she makes everything herself and with the help of her dad and mum and cdn boyfriend. Jo is smart too. met up with darren again at the airport. darren had been in the city already for 4 days and knew it like the back of his hand. great tour guide. never had to look at a map once!! he let me shop, (kudos for being so patient), showed me some of the funky art decor around the city and the Art gallery. i could definately live in Melbourne. tied with good ol' Vancouver for most liveable city. fancy that. the cafes and bars, restaurants with beaUtiful architecture, style and feel. THEN found a wonderful gelato place. heaven. unfortunately, Jo had to work hard for the time that darren and i were there as she was trying to fill xmas orders. luckily, darren and were able to hire a car and drove the GREAT ocean road. 2 photographers, stopping when we wanted, where we wanted. got a great sunset of the 12 Apostles (actually, there are only 7. the others don't like to come out and play) really impressed that i went camping again. Jo and her family let us borrow some of their camping equipment and we set up tent that nite near the 12 Apostles. the most beaUiful SUNRISE (yes, i know...me up before the sun...is quite shocking) the sunrise was a beaUtiful, gorgeous, stupendous surprise! i will never forget this sunrise.
