November 14, 2004if i never wash another dish again...it will be too soon
everytime i wash a dish now, i get flashbacks. i love diving! it is exciting and scary, fun and frightful and just bloody amazing!!! went on another 4 day live aboard but this time i had to work on the boat as a hostie (so that i didn't have to pay anything for my diving). PLUS, i went diving in the Coral Sea and Cod Hole up north! visibility of at least 30 metres! 30 metres! crikey! first 2 days i was sea sick...this didn't go over very well with the cabin attendant that i reported to since i was only on the boat for 4 days. had to wash up the dishes after brekky, lunch and dinner plus and in btwn meals...ugh. washing up took at least 2 hours after each meal! plus pots and pan!!! all this washing up had to be done while the boat was swaying back and forth, back and forth. the cabin attendant wasn't so nice to me either...always barking out orders, never a please, nor a thank you at the end. in the end though, i won her over and she was nice to me - even wants to meet for coffee on land. now for the diving...only got 2 dives a day (some other hosties that go on get 3 dives a day! crap) got to go on the potato cod feed. huge fish, some the length of an human adult, some wide like a human adult...teehee...they all just swam around you, between you, under you...that was amazing! next cool dive was the SHARK FEED!!!! everyone sits on a huge bommie (not suppose to sit on the reef but this area is quite dead already so it's okay...hmmmm) you just sit. a guy comes around asks if everyone is OK. you reply..and then when everybody is okay. it begins! a dingy boat above drops the line of giant tuna heads into the water and the bigger sharks move in first. different sharks chomp in different ways. some bite and jerk their heads left to right, left to right till the food comes off. other sharks, generally, the smaller ones (i believe the white tip reef sharks) go in for a bite and they twirl their whole body until the food comes off. that was amazing. the entire feed was only 20 mins or so but it felt longer. the the potato cods, maori wrasses and any other smaller fish move in for the bits at the end. get to swim around afterwards with the hundreds of fish!!! beaUUUtiful! on my dives, i saw sharks, giant pototo cods, 2 cuttle fish, maori wrasse, mr. turtle, 2 manta rays, lion fish, nudie brains, steve's bommie (gravesite), did a few swim throughs (sp??) in caves!!!!! the most amazing diving for me! i loved it! and it was warm!!!! i love diving!!!!!!
