Uluru, Kata Tjuta and King's Canyon

another early 5am morning the next day...is this a holiday...doesn't feel like it.

another early 5am morning the next day...is this a holiday...doesn't feel like it. joined another tour to do 3 days of Uluru, Kata Tjuta and King's Canyon (or other names for them are Ayer's Rock, the Olgas and well...King's Canyon respectively). i reckon most ppl slept the whole way there as we all looked buggered with the early morning start. saw Mt. Connor along the way...similar to Uluru but with a flat top. the tour guide, Mick, reckons that it's just as beautiful as Uluru but not as touristy. Finally saw Uluru for the first time and it was gorgeous! amazing! huge! red! to me, Uluru means Australia and i finally got to see it. it's considered the heart of australia and at sunset it looks like it. i really wanted to climb up the gorgeous rock but the Aboriginals prefer that you not as it is sacred. they do allow, however, you to walk around it. that was a good 2.5 hour walkabout. the size is amzaing and the colour spectacular! absolutely gorgeous! Got to walk around with this girl from Melbourne, Jo. She was quite nauice to have a yarn with. ironically enough, her boyfriend is canadian! (from alberta). he's moved down under to give it a go with her. the things that us canadians do for our aussies!

the next part you may not believe but believe it friends. i camped! in a swag under the stars that night. no tent, no luxury, no bathrooms (that was the scary part i reckon). i woke up in the middle of the night and just saw stars. heaps of them. sooo gorgeous! next day we headed to Kata Tjuta. we hiked for 3 or so hours through the big rocks and the views were just spectacular! not a cloud in the sky! beautiful blue sky, gorgeous red rock. i reckon Kata Tjuta was my favourite. Mick the tour guide says that every time he hikes through there he finds something different. gorgeous.

the last day was King's Canyon. i reckon my hopes were too high for this. i had seen pictures while working in the photolab in brissy and it looked gorgeous. i reckon the ppl that took those photos went when it was rainy season cuz it had this amazing waterfall. no waterfall for me though. the rainy season is long gone. =( plus there was this area called the Garden of Eden where ppl could swim. unfortunately it was so cold and windy that i didn't wanna go in. only the boys took a dive in and they shivered for the next half hour. noooo thank you. i was cold just looking at them.
