Back in The "Bridge"....Momma, I'm Comin' Home

Well, this is it. My last day in Ireland. I really can't believe that I made it! I have seen so much and done so many things. Sometimes, it doesn't seem real. I keep thinking I am going to wake up and this was all going to be a dream. Okay, some of the parts were a little nightmare-ish, but for the most part, I had a very good time.

Today, I left Killarney. I took my last train and used the last day of my Bus and Rail Pass. This was a crazy train ride day. I had to switch trains 3 times. I found out later, it would have been faster to take the bus. Who would have thought it? Anyhow, I made it through the 3 switches, luggage and all. I figured that by using the train and bus as many times as I could, I got my Euro's worth from the pass. I think it was worth it.

I am back in Sixmilebridge where it all started. I have a sweet room of my own tonight. Complete with a full size bed and a bathroom of my own. It's almost as nice as the hotel in Dublin, but there's no TV. I guess I'll have to go down to the Television room if I want that treat tonight. I doubt that I will be able to stay awake long enough for that. I am exhausted.

Last night, I went out with Jenny and Julie from Chicago. We were bound and determined to find some traditional Irish music. Finally, after going to about 5 pubs in Killarney, we found some good music and seats to sit in while listening to the music. We even had a chance to see some locals get up and dance for us. It was sooooo awesome. It was the perfect way to end the trip.

Well, that's it folks. The last blog entry from Ireland. I promise to upload my pictures as soon as I get a chance. I think my computer is all well now thanks to Dr. Vince. As soon as I get over the jet lag and adjust to the time change, I will let you see some of the beautiful sights from my trip.

I know many of you out there are wondering, would I do it again? Yes, I'd do this again, but maybe for a little shorter time period. Two and a half weeks probably would have been just as good as three weeks, but you live and you learn.

Would I have changed anything about the trip? Yes, I would. I would have scheduled a night or two at a hotel. I think you have to get off the road for a few nights and away from the who hostel situation. Otherwise, you get a little nutso like I did.

I also would have spread out my accomodations. I think I could have done a better job at planning that out. I totally missed Cork and Blarney. Yes, I have been there before, but Blarney does have some mad shopping and I totally didn't even get there. Perhaps that was a good thing??

What did I learn from this trip? Well, I think that is something that I will have to save for another day. I have really been dedicated to journaling during the whole trip and I have been giving that question a lot of serious thought. I will post that answer for you along with my pictures. See, now you have to come back and check it out because you all want to know the answer to that question.

Until next time, stay safe and I'll see you in Indy. Momma, I'm coming home! Heather
