Finding New Friends

Yesterday turned out to be a goldmine for finding new friends. It seems that the Americans have invaded Ireland. After meeting the choir from Louisville, I went back to the hostel only to meet a couple, Nate and Carolyn, who graduated from Butler! Small world. They now live in Wisconsin. Go cheeseheads! Anyhow, Carolyn is a teacher and Nate is getting ready to go back to school for Pharmacy. They are also getting ready to move to New York. We decided to go to dinner. We had some savage craic! There I go using that word again! Craic, craic, craic!

Last night, I hung out in the T.V. room at the hostel. I tried to act like I really understood European Football, aka soccer in America. I just really wanted to hang out and the game just happened to be on. Anyhow, after the game, I met two new friends, Jenny from Chicago and Steve from California. Jenny is traveling with a friend and Steve, like me, is going solo. We decided that hanging out in the T.V. room was lame, so we ended up going out to a few pubs to hear some music.

The music, mostly covers of American songs, was okay. We really wanted to hear some traditional Irish music. We went around looking for music, but the traditional music was already over for the night. So, we decided to go back to the hostel with the plan to meet tonight and look for some music. We figured that we needed to go earlier to get the traditional music. New pals are cool!

Anyhow, I am gearing up to leave Killarney tomorrow morning. I get to ride the train to Limerick and then the bus back to Sixmilebridge. It will be my last time to use public transport here in Ireland. I must say that using the bus and rail system was a good idea. Yes, it isn't always on time, but it is a lot better and cheaper than renting a car and paying for gas. I recommend it to anyone who is traveling alone or on the cheap, because you do get to see a lot of stuff and you don't have to worry about the other nutters on the road.

Well, I need to go. I will update again tomorrow, my last entry from Ireland. Can you believe it? It's been 3 weeks. Where has the time gone? I have had a great time, but I am ready to come home to Indianapolis. I can't wait to upload my pictures for all of you to see. I promise to do that when I get back. Lots of Irish Love, Heather

Miss M!!!! READ THIS!!!3rd and 5th... That's not so bad! Indianapolis will be so much better! There were too many dancers at Cincy. I shall now tell you about my mishap with the dreaded Hornpipe...duh, duh, duh. Ha! I told my mom I'd do really good in Hornpipe. But what I did was so far from that it was almost inhuman! Did I spell that right; it is a word? Anyway, I got thru the right and left foot of the first step. Great! Not so much! Silly, no, stupid me started my second step; only it was the second step of the wrong step! Nooooooo! I tried to get back on track, but it was no use! I looked at the judge and I just stood there, toes turned out, shaking my head. She tried to help but you just can't help me! I hope you enjoy my story, although I did not! Talk to you soon! TOODLES,

Eileen- the mixed up Irish Dancer :)
