June 16, 2004Knock, the Mecca for Catholics
Well, like any good Catholic, I ventured out to Knock today to see the Shrine to Our Lady. The bus ride was scenic and I am getting better and not gasping each time we get too close to another vehicle. Anyhow, the Shrine was not as crowded as I thought it would be. When I walked up around 10, the parking lot was nearly empty. Only a few coaches. I made my way around and saw the various points of interest. I wanted to attend Mass, but the schedule didn't work out with the bus schedule that I had to be on today. I sat and prayed at the Shrine and of course, I got my bottle of Holy Water. Totally touristy, but you have to give in at times. I don't know what it is, but I fall asleep on the bus if the ride is over 20 minutes long. I was sitting there today, taking in the scenery when the next thing I know, I am waking up at a bus stop who knows how far down the road. I hope I didn't snore! Well, my accomodations last night were a bit, ummm, smelly. It seems that the boys that were sharing the room with me weren't really into bathing on a regular basis. It was rather smelly in there this morning and I got out as quick as possible before I got sick. Lucky for me, they left today. Hopefully taking their smelly smell with them. Take note all of you out there, just because you are on holiday doesn't mean that you take a holiday from washing your body. Cleanliness is next to godliness. I hope I spelled that right. Well, I am going to look for some food. I haven't had anything since I stopped in Knock for a Fanta and a cupcake...a mini cupcake, I might add. I missed my granola bar this morning because I was in such a hurry to vacate the smelly room. Darn those smelly boys. Tomorrow, I make my way to the North. I am so excited. Talk to you all soon! Until next time, keep it clean! (All my house cats from Ripley County know what that one! ) Heather, one nice smelling Diva Posted by Heather on June 16, 2004 09:03 AM

Perhaps it would be prudent to invest in a can of spray deodorizer? You can tell your bunk mates you have a phobia about germs, and make the place smell better at the same time?? Peeeew!
