Local Crazies and The Cliffs of Moher

Well, the past two days have been quite full of adventure. I set out on Friday to get my bus and rail pass for the rest of my trip. Since I couldn't read the bus schedule, I missed the first bus out of the village. I had to wait around until the bus came at almost 11:00. At that time, I was met at the bus stop, AKA the Old House Pub, by two locals. One of them decided to be my best new friend and escort me into Limerick to get my pass. He graciously helped me into the office and waited around with me until they got my pass ready. Anyhow, I thought he was going to leave me so I could go exploring, but alas, he decided to show me all around Limerick. I know he was only trying to be nice, but well, I was not up for conversation with a crazy local. Anyhow, my efforts to ditch him were fruitless and we returned to Sixmilebridge on the same bus. He told me to ring him....he didn't understand that American's don't do those things in countries were they don't know you. I am hoping not to run into him again.

Today, I had a wonderful adventure. I took the early bus out of the village and into Limerick. Thankfully, no local nutters around to be my guide. I came into the city and caught the bus to Ennis and then out to the Cliffs of Moher. This was quite a complicated ordeal. I had to switch buses 3 times! I am becoming more adept at reading the bus schedule, so this was good practice. Anyhow, the weather was perfect for viewing the cliffs. It is sunny and warm. I had such a great time just taking in the views from appreciating everything. It was a great day trip.

I even had a chance to use some of my French from college. Okay, I remember about 4 phrases from French. Thankfully, one of them is excuse me, miss if you please...don't ask me to type that in French. I just said that I knew how to say it, not spell it. The reason this came in handy was because I had to get around some French speaking tourists in the gift shop at the Cliffs. Thank God for my one year of French. Merci Beacoup!

I am in an internet cafe in Limerick right now. I am waiting for my bus back to the hostel. That doesn't leave until 5:30 or Half 5 as they say here. I am becoming more adept at understanding the locals and using the local lingo. I am so glad that today turned out so nice. I saw Ireland at her best.

Well, since tomorrow is Sunday and there is nothing happening in Sixmilebridge, I am going to spend my time at Mass and then doing laundry. I am also trying to plan out the details of next week. I may not post again until Tuesday, after I leave Sixmilebridge. The library is not open on Monday...so unless I come into the city, I won't be able to post. So, until next time, remember to stay away from the local crazies! Heather
