In the year 2000, my wife and I took it upon ourselves to quit everything and hop onto a train for India. OK, so it wasn't quite that casual. We had planned long in advance to travel overland from Leamington Spa to Delhi and then fly to South Africa where we would buy a jeep and drive it up the length of Africa back to Europe. Of course, things never work out the way you intend them to and we ended up being sidetracked, diverted, thwarted and tempted in other directions. We ran out of patience with bureaucracy in Turkey and were forced to fly via the Middle East to India. We then moved on to southeast Asia before flying to San Francisco and travelling down to Central and South America - and back.

I took a small laptop computer with me and updated our progress at regular intervals on a (since deceased) website called Merrydance. Unfortunately my computer was robbed from me in Peru, so that section is missing. I hope to get around to filling those entries in from memory one day.
