January 15, 2005mediterranean winter
I´ve finally arrived in the Catalunyan capital after not being able to wrest myself from the massive clutches of New York´s ever escalating rat race. Well I´ve made it out fo the maze if only briefly, and landed in one of Europes´ most notorious party hostels, the Albergue Juventud Kabul situated in villa pickpocket AKA Placa Reial, just off Las Ramblas. I´ve yet to meet someone actually from Catalunya yet, which isn´t surprising considering my local. I went out to a bar with some anti podean (read:Australian) party dudes and every one we seemed to meet was from El D.F. (Mexico City-Distritto Federale), they are likely the sons and daughters of Mexico´s urban elite. This is the beginning of a five week journey and it will likely only get better and more interesting from this point on. I´m off today to catch the view from Antonio Guadi´s Parc Guell, which I know best from a French flm ¨LÁuberge Espagnole¨. Looks to be spectacular. I have a feeling I could burn through a lot of Euros here as it´s quite easy to get caught up in the sangria and cigarette smoke with random ATM withdrawlas inbetween. I may be heading down to Morocco and beyond sooner than I had originally planned. Comments
