January 09, 2004New Years Eve
Dec 28 I walked into the Backpackers hostel in Jinja (from Nairobi) and happened upon Jess, Josh, Nick and January. These friendly Uganda PCVs didn't need to twist my arm to accompany them to the Hairy Lemon the next day. View image The Hairy Lemon is a relaxing little island on the White Nile River. An Aussie couple spent most of 2003 transforming it into a pleasant getaway with tents, latrines and a well-stocked bar. What else do you really need? They do the cooking, spin the tunes and manage to run the place on solar power. I was impressed. New Years Eve we left the Lemon for Bujagali Falls' Nile River Explorers Bar/Camp. About 25 Peace Corps Uganda volunteers came out so I found myself in the presence of excellent company. Mix in a few dozen European tourists and it was a fine ringing in party. Comments
