Spent Christmas Eve in Ngorongoro Crater View image and the next day and a half in the Serengeti. Wildebeest View image Lions View image The game viewing was excellent. Even better than Kenya the previous week because a few million wildebeest were making the trek south, crossing the Serengeti just as we arrived. There were two Serengeti highlights. The first was seeing a cheetah accelerate in pursuit of a waterbuck. The cheetah didn't have a shot--the buck was just too big. Later we saw two female lions in a tree, licking their chops over some nearby zebras and wildebeest. The lions inched down the tree then sort of toppled over each other blowing their cover. The zebras took off. Oh, well. We saw several other lions eating breakfast after a night of hunting. Would have been nice to see a kill, though. Saw a newborn zebra and mom; cheetahs taking a rest; lion family playing; a huge elephant taking water from our campsite at night--it was about 3m from where we safely stood behind vehicles. A good 3 days. Comments
