another Journey

We woke up today with the plan of going back to Phnom Penh and volunteering for 5 days, teaching in a school. But we couldn’t reach the contact so after breakfast we decided to head back to Bangkok. It was all a mad rush as we decided at 11.30 and the boat was leaving at 12pm. We said a quick goodbye and got on a minibus that took us to the port. The boat took 3 hours to reach Ko Kong, the border with Thailand. As the boat moored it was like a mad freezing frenzy, all the touts were jumping on and grabbing us, desperate for us to get in their taxi across the bridge.
More craziness ensued at the border, all the tourists were pushing and shouting at us and the Cambodians were all talking at once and bugging me – I thought I was going to scream. As soon as we were on Thai soil again it was so quiet, no one was oining us or dragging us this way and that. But then we weren’t sure what to do – how to get to Trat? We followed a guy and got on a minibus for the hours drive to Trat. Our bus finally left for Bangkok at 11.15pm. We arrived in the city that really never sleeps at 3.30am and got a tuk tuk to Suk 11, to find we weren’t booked in!
