Vang Vieng
Sorry I am so rubbish at this website thing:
So I’ll go as far back as the 1st February when 6 of us from Ko Pha Ngan went into Laos.
· We spent just one night in Vientiane – was not much to see there
· Next we headed north for Vang Vieng – this was backpackers haven. Lots of bars playing movies and serving western food – including happy pizza! We hired bikes for the week and spent days cycling to the lagoon, where there was a rope swing and a cave, relaxing by the Nam Sa river where elephants and water buffalo would stop by for a drink! My favourite activity was ‘tubing’! Most people who visit Vang Vieng may do this once – but we loved it and went six times! It involved floating down the river in a inner tube (rubber ring) stopping at makeshift ‘bars’ along the way where you were pulled in by owners shouting ‘beer Lao, come now, drink now’ at least 10 beers Laos was consumed during the 5 hour trip down the river. Each ‘bar’ had its own rope swing or ‘jump’ being with 4 guys I didn’t have much choice but to have a go at each one – some were 25 feet high!
