December 09, 2004Siem Reap
I was supposed to get up at 5am to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat but I was exhausted and slept in until 11am. At 4.30pm a moto guy took me to see the sunset. We were too early though and he took me on a little tour of Siem Reap. We had a drive through small villages where I saw a farmer on his cart being pulled along by two cows! The locals lived in shacks on stilts and although obviously so poor they seemed happy and content. The kids were playing outside on bikes 10 times too big for tem. It was funny how everyone had a TV and the family were sat around on the floor. At 5pm it was time to go back to Angkor. I had to climb a huge, sandy hill and then lots of steep steps to reach the top, where there was a temple. There were lots of people there all watching the sunset. Comments
