November 30, 2004Arriving in Bangkok
I arrived at Bangkok airport at around 12.30pm. Knowing that I had to catch airport bus number 3 I made my way outside. The heat hit me and my backpakc sunddenly seemed twice as heavy as it had done at home! It was also twice the size of everyone elses - (whoops!) Stories of touts outside pulling you this way and that were not true - on the plane I was dreading walking outside. But I simply bought my bus ticket and waited for bus no.3. After 10 mins of sweating buckets my bus arrived. The driver asked where I was going and made a tally on his pad, I stupidly assumed he would tell when it was my stop - no such luck! I struggled to keep my eyes open but was so scared that I would miss my stop, it was all in vain after the first stop the bus pulled away as I noticed the street my hostel was on....panic! The bus then didn't stop for another 20 mins, we were miles away by then! By a stroke of luck a lad from portsmouth had also missed the stop and so we shared a cab back to Sukhimvit Road. Comments
