March 04, 2005Australia - Melbourne
Finally here at last! I was so happy to be leaving New Zealand. I've realized I really hate waiting around for things to happen. I.e. waiting for my flight out of Christchurch and into Sydney. After I had done all I needed to do in Chch, I was dying to get out of there. Sitting around so does not agree with me. At any rate, connected through Sydney where I got my visa issued. Met some fabulous people at the Sydney airport - Canadians from The Hammer (Hamilton). Kicked around there for a bit, gave some girl $4 to take the bus over to terminal 2 where the domestic departures were taking place because she gave me some sob story about being pregnant and needed to catch her flight and whatever else. I simply looked her in the eye and said, " I hope everything works out for you." and walked away. I'll put that down to the bank of good karma, because it worked out for me a bit later when I met a guy catching a flight from Sydney to Melbourne. He has missed his earlier flight and was on my flight. Once we got to Melbourne he gave me a lift right to my hostel saving me $14!! Don't worry, I asked him if he was an axe murdered before I accepted the ride - he said he wasn't.:) Melbourne is fantastic. When I arrived it was hot and sunny and I was loving it as I walked down the wide city streets, lined with large trees. The next day it was pouring down rain and I was still loving it as I dodged from trendy alley-way cafes to dress shops. The city is just lovely and has such an amazing positive energy. I did get a cold and stayed there for a week, met up with my friend Natalie that I met in New Zealand, went to the market, took in the sights. Then I decided it was time to travel! Comments
