After a second look at the land just to confirm I was still in on it, we headed to the home of the current owners, Julio and Rosa. It was getting late, but because Argentineans are intelligent, they have the whole “Siesta” thing down to an art meaning businesses are open late at night. Even the local Escribano.

What the hell am I getting myself into?

I last wrote in my blog 7 months ago. It seems a lifetime’s worth of stuff has happened since then. We pick up the action in September 2005 where I had just left the US to continue my journey in Argentina. First of all here is some background to why I decided to go there after my 3 months in the US.

It is no secret to anybody that I am passionate about natural healing. It has been my dream for a while now to create a healing centre somewhere in the world in a peaceful natural setting where people with serious illnesses can come to heal using the most effective methods. The impetus behind this, the dream trip, was to find those methods, by visiting the places in the world that are doing it. Places that are successful at curing Cancer, AIDS and other serious diseases using a broad range of natural methods aimed at giving the body its power back so that it can heal itself. It is my belief that there will never be a “magic bullet” for any of these diseases, no pill or injection that can solve everything. The key lies in treating the whole person and looking at the disease at all levels, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual and working at all levels with a multitude of complementary techniques in order to bring about healing in the person.

And the next country on the Dream Trip is…

August 13th, 2005

After staying with Susan for a month, I headed to Virginia for a 3 week Professional Rebirther Training at Leonard Orr´s Training centre in the Appalachian Mountains. It was similar to California, just longer and more thorough and with a much smaller group of people. I may write more about this time in the future but my blogs about California give a fair idea of what I experienced in Virginia.

After Virginia I had 2 weeks left on my US Visa. I was running out of time in the country that I had initially wanted to avoid. 2 weeks left, whatever shall I do. The hopeless romantic in me stepped forward and said “Go back to Minneapolis you fool”. So thats exactly what I did. I had another great time with Susan and we fell even further in love. Then decided to make a clean break from each other not wanting to leave pieces of ourselves at other ends of the planet. We trust that we will be together in the future if that is what is meant to happen. Now is just not the right time for either of us. But as Colleen said “Real connections last”.

More detours on the Dream Trip

August 13th, 2005

After quite an intense time at “Return to the Sacred” I headed to Portland, Oregon with Aaron and Linda, two people from Portland who were at the retreat. I spent a week in Portland, not doing much at all really, just relaxing and exploring Portland. Very cool city…and I thought I didn’t like the USA.

Finally after a week in Portland swearing I wouldn’t chase women around the world anymore, I bought a flight to Minnepolis. Being a backpacker without a plan and a hopeless romantic isn’t necessarily a harmonious combination. Being with Susan though is definitely part of my path though I am sure of that.

Next stop Nudist Camp, USA.

June 30th, 2005

Before I headed up to the USA and up to Sierraville, I had a bit of time to spare so headed down to Ensenada, about two hours down from Tijuana on Baja California. While in Ensenada I had some time to do some research on this weird retreat I was heading to run by this quirky 70s new age guru I had run into in Tijuana. All on the website sounded good, there would be high quality breathwork sessions, fasting, vision quest, fire purification, drumming all great stuff I thought. Then there was a little ** and then following the ** to the bottom of the webpage it read:

** Clothing at the hot springs are optional.

So, how the hell did I get here?

June 30th, 2005

Mexico was that start of my “Dream Trip”. A trip I have been thinking about since 2001. Now 3 months later, I am supposed to be in Central America, or Brazil but I am in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the USA. How the hell did I get here? First of all here is some background about the last few years leading up to this trip.

I was born in 1975 in Sydney Australia…ok ok, I won’t do that to you! fast forward to 2001.

In 2001, I was living and working in London, England. I was happy working in I.T. at Deutsche Bank, earning alot of money, travelling, drinking, socialising and generally enjoying “The good life”.

I went to a party with my Kiwi friend Matt, I didn’t know anyone there. I chatted with a few people and had a good time. At about 1:00 in the morning a girl came right up to me and gave me a big hug. I didn’t know her, she was a touch tipsy, but I didn’t mind. I smiled. She let go, looked at me and said “You’re not Tim”. “No I am not” I replied. She had mistaken me for her friend Tim, the only other bald man at the party. Her name was {Name removed in respect for privacy}, we were inseperable from that point on and had a relationship that lasted almost two years.

Held Hostage in Mexico…by Fish Tacos

May 16th, 2005

I’ll have to leave Ensenada soon before I die of heart disease. Fried fish tacos have me by the short and curlies. I am a five a day guy at present. They are so YUMMY. With home made salsa and Guacomole. It must be hell for all the people who come to this part of the world for treatment because they know they can’t have fish tacos. Perhaps if there were no fish tacos the Hoxsey clinic would be even more successful!! They are oh so tempting and three are never enough. Good thing I am leaving on Tuesday for Northern California.

After Hoxsey I headed to Ensenada only to find THE BEST Hostel en todo el Mundo. El Hostel Sauzal in El Sauzal just north of Ensenada run by the incomparable Maria who charges only $15 but makes you a fully gourmet breakfast with a capital met every day. Today she made Tortilla Espanol (Spanish Omlette) with Onions, cheese and Cactus!! que buenisimo!
