I had made it the 120km to St Helen’s but at what price? At dinner with Pete, I was quiet and quite out of it.

The worst nights sleep ever, I become incoherent and confused. I passed over 4 litres of fluid. My fever had gone crazy I was burning up but at the same time I was freezing because I had used all of my energy reserves. Poor Pete in the bed next to me, I kept him up all night with my antics, I was seriously all over the shop.

Today I felt sufficiently strong to get back on the bike. It was a long leg, 120km from Coles Bay to St Helen’s, but was relatively flat. I was hopeing that today would be my day, the day when the much talked about summer Tassie south-easterly would blow up and carry me swiftly to my destination.
