Only in Vancouver…

Wednesday, May 4th, 2005

I had a great time in Canada, but won’t drag the blogs on. At the end I headed out to Vancouver Island with Lynn. We had a great time yet again and managed to get up to Quadra Island off the coast on Vancouver Island to visit my old mate Jim the wood sculptor. His place is still one of the best places I have ever been and his sculptures still blow me away as much as when I first saw them in 1998.

It came time to say goodbye to Lynn. My time is Canada was coming to an end and Lynn had to go back to Fernie for work. We had such a great time together and it was all so easy but for now our paths are very different so we are both thankful for the time we had together.

My flight home was 1st May bound for Sydney. I cancelled my flight from LA to Sydney and got off the plane in LA. I am now in San Diego ready to drop in to Mexico with no plan, no flight and no lonely planet. The blogs may get interesting.

On my last day in Vancouver I was hanging out with my friend Andrea on Denman St when three gay guys walked past gossiping about things. One of them was heard to say.

“Oh, I really hope he’s not straight, that would be such a waste!”

Only in Vancouver. Or Sydney for that matter. Not that theres anything wrong with that :o)

That concludes my short blogging jaunt on Canada. I had a fantastic time and met so many wonderful people. Now I am in San Diego feeling the grief of leaving people again! One of the only downsides of travelling.

Till Mexico,
Love,
Dan.

The Loose Cannon and the Moose

Back in Fernie I spent a few days hanging out with Lynn. Jenny and Kirk were in France for a holiday so Lynn and I looked after the B&B and their Golden Retriever Lily. Being a Cat man my whole life and not too fond of dogs I thought this would be a struggle but instead I really grew to like dogs. Its a full time job though! especially when there is two, Lynn’s lovely black Labrador Ellie was there too.

After a few days I decided to hitchhike to Nelson from Fernie. Some 350km.
