About the Author
I’ve been wondering what to do with this ‘About the author’ page. It’s incredibly out dated, but I don’t want to just delete it. So I’ll leave here for now.
But I’m no longer 21, I’m 24. I finished the Media and Irish degree, and am almost finished a masters in Development Studies. In a few days (31.5.09) I’m shipping out to India to sweat it out there for the summer. I’ll be interning at UNICEF during the day and writing my thesis at night.
I have a bit more travelling planned; Egypt in September and then back to India for a school tour in October. Hope I’ll remember to write about those!
Here is the old ‘About the Author’. For old times sake….
Written in January 2007:
Can I call myself an author? I’ve seen some other people do it so why not.
Hmm what can I say? I’m a 21 year old student from Cork in Ireland. At the moment I’m studying Media and Irish. Hopefully will have a degree by the summer. I’m then heading to Peru for 2 months to volunteer with a guy from college. My plan is to get a one way ticket to Peru and possibly travel the world alone. A lot of people think I’m nuts (and my brother thinks I’m a loser) but I think it would be an incredible challenge. I’ve got some people in Australia and India who’ll look after me if things go bad.
I’ve done a bit of travelling in the past. As a youngster I went on a few family holidays around Europe. In 2003 and 2004 I went to Malta for a swimming compeition. Later in 2004 I did a bit of travelling around the East Coast of the USA. And in the summers of 2005 and 2006 I taught in India and did a little bit of travelling while I was there.
I don’t really have any country in particular I want to go to. It’s more things I want to do while on the road. The only place I can’t wait to get to is India, but that’s more to see my Indian friends there. Actually the only other country that I’m really excited about is Bolivia. I’ve seen some photos and the place looks like another planet!
I’d love some day to study abroad. I plan on doing a bit of research for this while on my travels. If I see a college I like with the course I want to do I may be tempted to hang around there.
If anyone readnig this happens to be in the same place as me at anytime send me an email! I’m always up for a beverage.

Hi Claire,
It would be awesome if you could let your readers know about this tournament in Paris if they happen to be traveling there this summer.
Let me know if you think it might be doable. I was unable to send the information here because of pictures/maps so I can email it to you if you are interested.
Thanks,
Jayne

Hi Claire!
I came across your blog while I was looking for some inspiration. I’m 22 years old but I realized a long time ago that sitting in an office working a 9-7 is not how I want to spend the rest of my life.
I started my own travel blog recently in hopes that my writing will one day become good enough to be called a travel blog. Then I can explore the world and get paid to do what I love.
By the way, how did get involved working with UNICEF? I’d love to work for them one day.
Cheers!
Monica
