March 19, 2005Last week of classes
This week I finished my spanish classes. The school has a graduation for students when they are done with classes, and they gave me a certificate! Yeah! It is official. I have learned about Spanish, but have yet to conquer the language. That is okay, I know that I just need to give it time. My last week of classes was really nice. I was the only student in my class, so it was private lessons without the extra cost. My profesora was very encouraging and we had some really great conversations in class. The upcoming week is Semama Santa. This is the week before Easter. Many people in Costa Rica are Catholic and it is a very important week for them. I plan on going to a few processions during the week where they reenact, mainly in images but some are live, the different events of the week before Easter. I may not be able to write much this week because I will be at Parque National Tortugero and there may not be internet access there. So, I will write when I get back. Torugero is a remote park on the carribean sea and to see the park you have to use canoes! I am very excited and will take lots of video. Today, I leave my family in Heredia and move in with a family in Alajuela. I start my volunteering next week. I hope that everyone is doing well. Thank you for your continued support and thank you for reading this blog! Comments
