March 05, 2005La Paz Waterfall Garden
On Thursday, I went with other students from the school to La Paz Waterfall Garden. Once again, we went up the narrow road with many curves, but this time the ride was a little bit shorter. As we were driving, the road became cloudy, because, that is right, we were up in the clouds. It is an amazing experience...to literally be in the clouds. Both sides of the road were almost totally white and you could see trees standing like ghosts (but reverse the colors!) in the distance. After a week of 80 degree plus weather, it was a nice break to be higher up and to be near the waterfalls. I did not have a coat, so I was pretty damp by the time I left. It was raining --pelo de gato-- it is frase that refers to mist. We went with the excursion leader from the school. He has been to all of these places so many times they are just old hat for him...but for us, they are very new and very beautiful. Since I have been here, I have already started to take forgrated the beauty of this place. Life hits, I forget my passport or I am running late for class or my feelings were hurt and life all of a sudden is a chore. You all know how it goes. So, the Waterfall Garden is a misty place with a jardin de marposas (yes another one), a colibri garden (hummingbirds) and beautiful, powerful, natural waterfalls. You walk down a series of metal stairs that are very secure and view three waterfalls and feel the water coming from them. I took fotos with my "real" camera" so we will have to wait to see these. One waterfall was 110 feet high. Comments
Hi Corrie! I am enjoying reading your blog; your dad pointed it out to me. Sounds like a great adventure.......keep on writing, and I will keep reading! Love, Doug Posted by: Doug Cameron on March 5, 2005 02:02 PMHi Corrie, Oh my goodness!! Wow it all sounds so beautiful. Thank you for your great descriptivness. It helps me picture the over whelming beauty. Corrie, I picture my self right there with you! I wish I was! Lots of lush beatiful scenary. It's funny, I have a friend with the last name of "De La Paz" so now I have a visual description for his name. Wow? 80 degree weather huh? We hit the 50's yesterday, but now it's raining. Oh well... Isn't it great how the people down there are so family oriented? I'm curious if they do siestas down there? Posted by: Jeff on March 8, 2005 09:27 AM |
