Destination: Mar del Plata

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

High season is coming to end for travelers from Buenos Aires heading to Mar del Plata. i.e. there aren’t quite so many people and you can enjoy the beach without elbows and ankles of other people crowding your view. Located about 400 km from Buenos Aires this is an amazing summer get away. Buses from the city run about every half hour and you have everything from sandy beaches to casinos to clubs to enjoy! I would highly recommend going anytime in the next few weeks, while the weather is still hot, hot, hot.

A tip: Take the road toward the playas del faro and enjoy the more private beaches. It costs about ten pesos a person, but is well worth the seaside view.

Shopping, Ladies?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

Interested in a little shopping, Ladies? Who isn’t. Here are the best places to take in shopping while in Buenos Aires.

For boutique shopping, check out Palermo SoHo. There are literally blocks and blocks of shopping boutiques for clothing, shoes and bags. You’ll be hard pressed to find a chain down there and plenty of great stuff to make your gal pals jealous back home.

For mall shopping, I recommend Alto Palermo, Galleria Pacifico or Abasto. And for some street shopping a stroll down Sante Fe from Recoleta to Palermo will give you plenty of window shopping to take in.

Enjoy!
