Normal Life in a Foriegn Country.

Well, I´m here in Salamanca trying to adjust to the spanish eating habits, sleeping habits, speaking habits blah blah blah. Things here are more layed back, but at the same time they are going 1000 mph. So a hyper-galactic lazy boy aprroach to life I guess. I arrived on Sunday and it felt like a slave auction the way they handed us over to our families. This massive group of people on the corner yelling and waving their arms to get the right kids! People probably thought we were all crazy, but it was cool....

I ended up getting into the car of this family who sort of bekoned me over like a dog with a bone. I soon found out that her name was Manoli, and his name was Panchi, and they´re my family for a while. We went to the house, Its small, but nice, a cool little apartment about 5 minutes from the old section of the city. It finanly hit me that this whole thing was real when I was unpacking my suitcase. I´ve never been on a trip where I have had to un pack my bag before. Its pretty cool. I´ve only been here for 2 days, and already I feel acquainted with the city. Is small enough to know, but then again big enough to show you new things at every corner.

I´m freakin beat though. I officially have traveler´s foot pains from walking soo much. School is nice because its an international school, and I´ve already made a lot of friends from all over the place. So far its Brazil, UK, Holland, Japan. Its really cool. But the coolest part of my trip is the fact that for me to get to school everymorning. I have to walk through the Plaza Mayor, past the cathedrals, and through the old section of town. It is an amazing commute, and there is always eye candy. My school is a converted monestary in the medievel section of town. It is awesome to say the least.

Yesterday was my first day of classes. We had placement tests, and orientation dinner, and then afterwards, and orientation clubbing session. It was sort of funny to be partying with all the profs on a monday night. Didn´t end up getting back till around 2 am. (Today the profs made fun because that is obviously really early for spain standards.) Last night at the dinner, there was this German lady (37) and she was hitting on me, she took me to this bar, and bought me drinks, but it was wierd to flirt with a lady who is about as old as my mom. I have the pics to prove it. All in all, it was my drunkest first day of school ever. Quite fun!

But now, I´m trying to adjust to this all spanish life. It sort of wears your brain down when you are trying so hard to tranlsate and speak 24-7. It is soo much easier to just sit back and play dumb, but they don´t like it too much when you you just stare at the wall.

But so far, I love this city, I love this lifestyle (coffe and toast for breakfast, HUGE lunch at like 3 pm, and then tapas at like 10 or 11) This is a tempting city to move to.

Oh, I´ve noticed that people who are obsessed with clothing should come to europe in january, everything is soo cheap because they are getting rid of everything for the new years clothes. I´ve already got some nice shoes and shirts for like less than 20 €.

Well I´m off to bed.

Despite burning with jelousy, I am so happy that you've finally made it to your destination virtually unharmed. I hope you have the most amazing time ever and that you don't get picked up by too many more women of the gereatric persuasion. Unless you like that sort of thing. :) Miss you tons, Eric.
