Untitled

There is something about living outside your own country that makes you realize that life is amazing. The actual act of throwing yourself into something that is completly different than what you were raised with is something that scares some and entices others. I've been one lucky bastard so far in my life, I'll be the first one to say it too, but these three past months have been the difining moments in my life so far. I left high school, moved to a foreign country without knowing anybody, went to school that was taught in a different language, moved into my own apartment, fended for myself, met some amazing people ( Lo sabes Alicia!), all this before I even turned 18.

This is a view of the Albaizin. Look up at the white tower in the upper left hand corner, and that is the Mirador de San Nocólas. That is where the bottom pic of the Alhambra was taken.

Pateo de los Leones in the Alhambra. The 124 columns are supposed to look like a forest, if any one cares....

Jalabas, Camellos y Procesiones

So, I can rightfully say that this week has been the best of my life. My short 17 years on this planet haven´t produced anything better than this, so I think that it is a fair statement. When you´re here in Spain, (the land where 40 oz of beer is cheaper than a bottle of water...) you are bound to have some good stories, so throw in a trip to Morroco and Semana Santa, and you could have a publishable story.

La Vida Andaluz

So its been a while since I´ve been on here, sorry for all my habitual readers out there... (if any) I´ve been really busy these last two weeks, considering how I went back to London for vacation, came back to Spain, got my own apartment in Granada, started school again, planned a trip to Morroco (FRIDAY!!!), living the life here is busy enough...

Last Call

So, I can't believe that already my time in Salamanca is over. I can't believe that 5 weeks could go by so fast. The city treated me well, maybe a little to well. So for everybody out there who is going to Salamanca soon, I will leave you my list of top places to eat, drink, see and do. Enjoy...

Swimming with sharks, driving with the Portuguese

This weekend was euro road trip weekend. What better makings of a story than 5 broke students, limited money, and one rental car while dealing with the supposedly worse drivers on the planet? Well, I have to say that we did leave out mark on the northern part of that country...

I can finnaly cross off ¨Getting mugged by a group of old ladies¨ off my things to do before I die list

So its carnival time here, which sort of reminds me of halloween and the fourth of july mixted together. Oh yeah, there is also horny old women´s day which is better known as ¨Dia de San Blas.¨ This weekend was pretty eventful, considering i was mugged by grandmas, almost hit by a bull, and have slept a totoal of 4 hours in 3 days.

I think I found the proverbial ¨perfect university¨

First week of classes over, and life is good. Classes are going smoothly, and i´m starting to get more and more acustomed to life, and not speaking any english. So I´ve been here for a week and i´ve already learned that the night life here is very dangerous for a student like myself. All the schools give free drink vouchers on thrusday nights for all the local clubs and bars. I don´t know how the spaniards do it. They go to class in the mornings, but they party till like 4 or 5 in the morning. That is hard core. I´m used to small town colorado where a party consists of drinking at like 9, going home around 2 or 3 on a late night. But here, things don´t open till 12 or 1 and you have to pace yourself for a huge night. I´ve been getting home at around 4 or 5 in the morning and that is still early for the die hards out there. I´m not used to it, its overload! That is the last time I ever go out on a thursday here. Friday I was a zombie. Well I learn fast and that was that for me. I´ll stick with the weekends.

Normal Life in a Foriegn Country.

Well, I´m here in Salamanca trying to adjust to the spanish eating habits, sleeping habits, speaking habits blah blah blah. Things here are more layed back, but at the same time they are going 1000 mph. So a hyper-galactic lazy boy aprroach to life I guess. I arrived on Sunday and it felt like a slave auction the way they handed us over to our families. This massive group of people on the corner yelling and waving their arms to get the right kids! People probably thought we were all crazy, but it was cool....

Tapas y Mahau!!

AHHHH, Me encanta Madrid. I feel more at home here than anywhere. Its amazing how much i actually remember this city from March. My hostal is in an awesome place, and I remember how to walk everywhere. I´m a block away from the Puerta del sol. Perfect center location. I´m stayin at an awesome hostal, the food is amazing as usual, and the drink is flowing endlessly; however, I wish the company was a little better.
