February 13, 2005Hamilton and Turangi
The biker rally was fun. We met a few people from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and even a guy from Fargo, ND. Some people we met were trying to find us all rides for the Thunder Ride on Saturday, but only one of us was able to go. None of the girls wanted to go by themselves, so I went. It was a blast. There were about 1000 bikers and we cruised thru the country side for about 2 hours. The dinner Saturday night was delicious and there was live music later on. Sunday we took the bus from Hamilton down thru Taupo and to Turangi on the south side of Lake Taupo. We got here at about 1:30pm and after checking into our hotel we rented some fly fishing gear and went fishing. I had one 15" rainbow hook, but it swam under some logs and got off. We were hoping for fish for dinner, but no luck. Karen cooked up a great meal anyway and we all took it easy last night (not a single beer yesterday). Today (Monday), the girls caught a 7:30am bus to the area where they filmed part of Lord of the Rings (Mordor and Mt. Doom). We were all going to do the Tongariro Crossing hike today, but the forcast was for rain and wind, so they went to do some shorter hikes and I went fly fishing again. I at least saw a lot of big trout today, but it rained and nothing was biting (I guess the best fishing here is in April). I can't download photos on this computer, so I'll have to do that later. The sun is out now, so I'm going - cheers! We are heading to the south island tomorrow. Comments

Posted by: Marcie on February 17, 2005 06:36 AMWell girls, I have a huge dilema I wish you were here to help me with. BeBop got a room at Green Gables tonight and he asked me to share it with him. In fact, his exact words were (with a hotel key dangling in front of me...) "I have an 18 pack and a double bed, I'm as serious as a heart attack...you're not engaged to Andy are you?" WHAT SHOULD A GIRL DO?!?! Your advice is greatly appreciated!! Just think, it could be you!! Miss you! Posted by: Mara (Morman) on February 17, 2005 06:19 PMBozeman, have you seen any Tasmanian Tigers??? Any Cat Fights amongst the ladies you're with doesn't count...Cousin Brad Posted by: Cousin Brad on February 17, 2005 11:44 PMHELLOOOO HAVEN'T HEARD FROM YOU IN A FEW DAYS. TO BUSY???? TELL THE GIRLS I AM GOING TO HAVE A TALK WITH MARA TONIGHT OVER A FEW COCKTAILS TO HELP HER THROUGH HER DILEMA, NOT TO WORRY AND DON'T HURRY HOME, I HAVE IT COVERED. KEEP HAVING FUN AND BE SAFE, TAKE THAT HOW EVER YOU NEED TO. HOPE YOU BROUGHT PROTECTION WITH YOU, THEY PROBABLY HAVE IT THERE TOO. I declined, for the record!! Posted by: Mara (Morman) on February 18, 2005 09:02 PMI declined, for the record!! Posted by: Mara (Morman) on February 18, 2005 09:03 PMBozeman, how's the fishing going? Cold here in Minnesota, about 15 degrees, possibly going to get a few inches of snow on Sunday..It's been in the low teens and twenties all week..This trip you are all on sure sounds like a great adventure. Last week someone sent me an e-mail with a picture of a guy bungy jumping and while he did it he crapped his pants..Niiiice!!!!! So if you and the ladies bungy jump please bring a clean pair of underwear and don't embarrass your family back here in the states...... Posted by: Cousin Brad on February 18, 2005 11:27 PMTry to identify some of the great birds I'm sure you're seeing. Beware of the double-breasted mattress thrashers!! I'll expect a full report when you get back. And what's with the sheep? They look a little nervous! Posted by: Brother Pat on February 20, 2005 08:07 PMBozeman, I'm so envious of all the things you're doing and seeing. Glad to hear you didn't blow out an "O" ring on the bungee jump...That Bohemian sphincter is a tough one!!!!...I was telling a guy from Ivanhoe, MN, that you were in New Zealand; just to test his knowledge of geography I asked him "what's farther away from Minnesota, New Zealand or the moon?" He replied, "well da, you can see the moon!!!". Posted by: Cousin Brad on February 26, 2005 11:43 PMBozeman, in the name of science I need you to perform an experiment for me..When we flush out toilets here in the U.S. the water swirls counterclockwise..I hear in New Zealand the toilet water swirls just the opposite "clockwise", is this true? I think 9 years of being married to Kim is starting to affect me!!!!! Posted by: Cousin Brad on February 27, 2005 12:03 AM |
