Almost Spring!
Saturday, March 4th, 2006Last week I awoke to a wonderful “spring-like” morning. It was warm! With no classes until late afternoon, I wasted no time. I quickly dressed, fed my goldfish, and headed down to Xihu (West Lake). As you can see from the pictures, I wasn’t the only one with this great idea! No question about it – Xihu is a wonderful place to be, especially on a nice warm day. Within moments of arriving, I started to relax and breathed in deeply all that i sensed around me. To further enhance the visitors’ overall experience at Xihu, the authorities have thoughtfully installed speakers throughout the park area surrounding the lake. Hearing local Chinese music softly playing in the background brought a smile to my face. Despite living in China, I really don’t get the chance to hear Chinese music very often. It was nice! And what a wonderful way to start my day. I do think the quality of my teaching that day improved as well!
