La Pesca, MX
Friday, November 28th, 2008After overnighting in Brownsvile, getting insurance and repacking we arrived at the border crossing around 8:15 am. Expecting the worse ( no english spoken, inspections etc.) it was an absolute breeze- all green lights and english spoken. We were done in 45 min. after expecting a couple of hours.
Heading south on the Gulf we we again surprised at the good new roads since there are very few towns in the section but the wind was up and continues to make driving a job. Large grains farms in flat country turned to rolling hills and cattle country. Quite beautiful. We are now in La Pesca, a tiny fishing town on the Gulf on a spit of land between 2 big rivers that empty into the ocean. We are camped on the banks of one of these ( overpriced and so will do a beach camp tonight after having checked it out yesterday) last night. Beautiful. Just down the road is the beach-6km. of white sandy heaven that is virtually empty now as it is off season. Supposedly a fishing mecca. We may dip a rod in this afternoon. I’ll take some pictures for posting today but not sure of internet connections after leaving here.
