pyramids in Giza Egypt

The pyramids in Giza

To follow up on my previous post about the new 7 wonders of the world, it looks like the vote has been cast.

The new 7 were decided on 7/7/07 and have been released to the world. I can hardly believe it, but the pyramids in Egypt are no longer on the list. Maybe it is because of the way Egypt acted and refused to host the committee that was choosing the new wonders. Who knows. I can honestly
say that after standing in Giza, I do believe they should still be on the list.

The good news is that some of the lame entries that in my opinion had no right to be known as wonders of the world did not make it. Some of these include the Statue of Liberty in New York and the Sydney Opera House. Sure, these are impressive structures, but they are just not wonders.

To my disbelief, Angkor Wat in Cambodia did not make the new list either. Damn….now I have to start all over in visiting all 7 places!

The new 7 wonders and a great writeup can be found on GoBudgetTravel.com.
