January 05, 2006Central and Southern Vietnam
I can't believe I ended up staying in Vietnam for so long. As long as China and I didn't even see a lot of the central part of the country due to the rain. The highlights included getting some tailor made clothes done in a cute little town called Hoi An. Five shirts, two pairs of shorts, and two pairs of pants, all made from scratch for $56. My first visit to a beach in Asia in Mui Ne, which is a calm relaxing little beach town surrounded by huge sanddunes,...... that will be overrun with tourism very soon!!!! I spent Christmas in the bustling westernized Saigon with some great travelers I have met along the way as well as some really cool locals who showed as an excellent time. And New Years was enjoyed on the peaceful retreat island of Phu Quoc, which has been the most relaxing part of my entire trip. How can you not enjoy spending your days sitting on a gorgeous beach, sipping fruit shakes, reading a book or going for a leisurely swim with nearly the entire place to yourself, all for apx. $20 a day. Needless to say, I ended 2005 and started 2006 off on the right track. :) Not too shabby Here are my latest pics from the past few weeks. I am off to Cambodia now as my visa extension for Vietnam has come to an end and they tell me it's time to go....... Comments
Happy New Year Billy! Your 2006 sounded much more enticing than ours in Maryland. Your Hoi An pix suggested a homey little village that lent a big adventurer a smaller sense of place and welcoming. Send me your tailor's name & address. Va Tech played a great 2nd half and ended up ranked 10th, I think. Rose Bowl tonight. Posted by: Bill on January 4, 2006 02:15 AMHi Bill............Laur gave me the link to your website, hope you don't mind:) It looks like you are having an amazing time. I must say I am quite jealous, especially when I look outside at the snow piling up here in Boston. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Happy New Year! ~Holly Posted by: Holly on January 4, 2006 02:45 AMWord Billy....it's warmer there then it is in Maine. Cold here bub. Posted by: Sean on January 10, 2006 06:00 PM |
