R.I.P.

Fishy Fish died yesterday morning at the ripe old age of 2. He was very entertaining with his excitement at getting fed. He would wiggle against the glass when you waved at him and liked lying on the plants in his bowl. He spent his last day lying on some flower stems. He will be missed.

Rascal Flatts

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Were here performing at Rexall Place on Saturday. Adam and I arrived at the venue an hour early to secure good parking and avoid the crowds. We managed a sweet spot where we weren’t boxed in and got free glow sticks at the front doors!
Jason Aldean
Jason Aldean was the opening act. He is pretty good, Rascal Flatts used him last time to open for them on their last tour as well. I didnt’ know any of his songs but he’s got a rock feel. He actually played some 80s rock covers.

Rascal Flatts started their set with a big bang. Sparks showering down upon them as they played some of their last albums big hits. They knew how to work thei crowd, using Edmonton in place of city names in their songs. At one point they advertised their charitable work and sang a song in tribute and asked us to wave cell phones (instead of lighters). There was a bit of a lull or dragginess in the middle of their set. Too much talking and not enough playing. They picked up it up though. A drumming competition between one of the members and their band livened things up a bit.

At the end of the show, they brought out a surprise guest as they sang their last song. Tom Cochrane joined them for “Life is a Highway”. He played his harmonica wearing a Messier jersey.
