La Posada de Santiago

Head up the hill from the dock in Santiago, feel exhausted after 5 minutes, grab a “tuk-tuk” to the hotel and hope it has enough power to finish the hill off! Give time for the tuk-tuk to stall at the top of the town while waiting for roadworks, people and one bull on a string. Reach hotel around 20 minutes later: La Posada de Santiago.

But the journey wasn´t over quite yet. We had to get across Lake Atitlan to Santiago de Atitlan where we planned to stay for two nights. And despite the fact that it was now early afternoon and we´d been advised to travel early to avoid a choppy crossing, we simply had to stop, catch our breath and get some food down our necks.
