Catching up

Back at the hotel we had a nice surpise – a note from John and Al, a couple we’d met in the mines of Potosi almost three weeks before. They too were in Cusco, and planning their own Inca Trail, so after a quick wash and change we set off to meet them for some supper and swap notes.

John and Al’s journey had taken them to Sucre for Christmas, and then on to La Paz where they’d braved the world’s most dangerous road on mountain bikes (lucky them!). Copocabana hadn’t impressed them all that much, but then again they hadn’t had our Isla Del Storm experience to contend with, which had meant the security of Copocabana had meant the world to us!

A great steak sandwich in Jack’s Cafe (highly recommended) along with a few Cervesa’s to quench our thirst, and it was soon 11pm. We wished them all the best for the rest of their travels and went our separate ways.
