KL

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, as you may have read above I haven't been in places that have internet, let alone a regular shower. I'm just gonna make this a quick entry, cause we weren't there for that long. Erik and I arrived on one of the lushist buses I have ever been on in KL at about 5 in the morning. These seats were fabulous, lots of leg room, and they reclined almost horizontal without really disturbing the person behind you. Anyway, we arrived at 5 in the morning and instead of doing the smart thing and getting a hostel and some sleep we decided we would hang around until about 9 and line up to get tickets to the Petronas Towers. Maybe not the brightest idea, but we found a 24 hour internet station and killed some time there before checking into a hostel at around 9 for the following night.

Having not been in large, clean (reletively), well developed cities in a while, I found KL absolutely brilliant. I loved it, great downtown, people would come up to me in the mall and just chat (maybe practicing their English), incredible buildings and for those who are so inclined, even a posh mall that carried Guchi and the like. So we lined up to get free tickets to a building called the Petronas Towers. These are 88 story twin buildings connected with a skybridge at the 41st floor. Everyday, they allow 1400 visitors to go up for free. The view and the tower itself were incredible. Unfortunately, my camera was in getting fixed at a Sony repair shop (another plus of here), so I have no pictures, but here's one from the web. View image

After spending the day cruising around town, on almost no sleep (I slept maybe 2 hours on the bus as I wasn't too sleepy), Erik and I started to look for a way to get to the airport for our 7 am flight. Now, most transit other than taxis start around 6:30, so we tossed about the idea of sleeping at the airport. Think better of it (it is a really nice airport, btw), and that we should get a proper nights sleep, we decided to get up at 4, and take a taxi to the airport to fly to Borneo.

The flight was pretty nice, Air Asia is a seat yourself airline, regardless of what you paid for your seat. Erik, who's ticket was 40 ringitt cheaper than mine, got just as good of seat, oh well, the round trip flight was less then $100 Cdn. Beautiful view of KL and Peninsular Malaysia flying out, and a nice view of Kota Kinabalu coming in. Seeing as Erik and I have different time schedules from now on (I had 6 days in Borneo as opposed to his at least 12) and I had to be in Jakarta on Dec 1, where he had at the earliest to leave on the 23rd of December), we had to part ways here. It was kinda sad, as I have really enjoyed traveling with him, we actually didn't have set plans at the time, so we even joked that we probably meet up that night. As it worked out, we both left that afternoon, off on entirely different adventures.
