Pictures!!!

Ok, so I'm still in BKK, and am leaving in about an hour for Ko Samui (an island to the south, more beach and sun :) ) I've had a couple requests for more photos, so since I can actually upload them here, I will.

This is Lucky Buddha. On my second day here, this is one of the places the Tuk Tuk driver took me. It's only 4 feet high, and seeing as everything else here is gigantic, I was really taken by surprise as to why you would be taken on a tour there.

This one is a little more like it. It's Reclining Buddha. Apparently just before Buddha died he was in this position and reach Nirvana. It's huge, 46 meters long and 16 high. Crazy!!

This here is a guardian of one of the temples. It's really incredible the amount of detail goes into it. A lot of the temples (Wats) here are broken tile pieced together, they are absolutely beautiful.

These are a couple for my trek. Here's me feeding bamboo to our elephant. I didn't name him, but if I did he would have (for obvious reasons) been named Stampy. This one is a shot of the elephants wading through the water. You really had to hold on going down and up hills, no seat belts in these. This is the view from the Karen Village. Rice fields all over.

Last night I just went out and met people. For dinner I saw a guy sitting at a table so I just introduced myself and asked if he minded if I sat down. He was a guy named Sebastian from Sweden and was waiting for his girlfriend Lisa. They were great to chat with, talked and had a couple drinks with them, he was a chef and worked in England for a year, and she was a waitress at one of the restaurants in Sweden. It wasn't high season, so they had decided to come travel.

As I was going back to my hotel, I decided to sit down with a group of three people who were having a bite to eat outside my hotel. We ended up going out to one street vendors and had a couple of bugs. This is a picture of the scorpions. I was the only one to have one of these, they're not as bad as I thought they would be, but they're still quite gross. Managed to eat the whole thing and keep it down. This is a picture Seamus and I eating some critters that everyone had. They are the same as the ones that I had out on my trek, except those ones were a little better. Still tasted like potato chips though.

Oh well, I'm out. Talk to you all later.

Cheers,
Drew

good to hear that you're enjoying yourself. the weather is starting to get a little cold here, which means that I'm starting to get a little more jealous of those beach pictures. vicarious living.

remember, don't eat anything bigger than your head, especially if it is a bug.
