Easter - Lake District
Danielle and I went to the Lake District for Easter - why it’s not ‘Lakes’ when there are more than one lake is beyond me, but anyway, Lake District it is…
We went as part of a tour with a company called RoadTrip. It was pretty cool as far as tours go. We stayed in Ambleside near Lake Windemere, which is the loveliest little town…stone buildings, great walking tracks into the hills, magnolia trees in bloom, was heavenly. The weekend saw us traipsing up into the hills, horseriding, taking a boat across the lake, basking in the sun, having a quiet drink at the highest pub in Cumbria, visiting Wordsworth’s gravesite, going to a stone circle, visiting a waterfall…was very jam-packed! Even had a day in Liverpool doing the Beatles thing! Very fun! Here it is in pics…

Very nice blog and shots indeed. I agree with the Lake vs Lakes arguement, and still find myself saying ‘Lakes’ anyhow. B and I managed to get up that way for a long weekend as it was the only place in England, according to my Nana, that I HAD to visit whilst living over there. I think she was right too. I am just disappointed that I smashed my toe during the week before we left so we were resigned to driving around everywhere rather than walking. Still got some amazing shots, and it remains one of my favourite places in the world. Had some great fish and chips in Ambleside if I remember correctly.
As for Liverpool… ah you can take it personally. My old man is a Merseyside Scouser so most of my time on the couple of trips up there were checking out his old haunts and locations. I loved the cathedrals (both of them) but the city itself didn’t enthuse me much. But maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough. And what is with the incessant need to grafiti all the signs and walkways?!?
Well that is my rant and log in. Keep posting Ash, I love keeping up-to-date with your trips and travels. I look forward to catching up in July with B and the Bump!
