Soaring through the clouds

WEll, I did it!! I went skydiving last monday!! IT was crazy and surreal but I loved it! Tessa and i were ready to Skydive over the entire weekend but the weather had other plans. We splurged and stayed in a cozy hostel in Queenstown for two nights, letting our tent dry off. It rained for two days straight. WE passed our time by sleeping and taking advantage of the the cheap drink specials! Queenstown is expensive!! BUT very beautiful. I can see how it holds its charm year round. The storm that brought buckets and buckets of rain on the city, brought snow to the mountian tops... THey were so amazing... like nothing i've ever seen. So extreme and daunting! Okay, skydiving... oh my goodness! Its such a rush. You guys know, i'm the biggest scaredy cat when it comes to things like this but for some reason, I was ready. Going up in the small plane was a beautiful ride. They took us over Glaciers and mountian lakes as we climbed in altitude. I chose to jump from 12,000 ft, that gave me 45 sec of free fall. As we reached the chosen hight, we get our googles hat all secure. My tandem master is checking our gear, making sure we're well secured. Then the door opens. Its then that i start to realize what i am about to do. Tessa and her partener go first. They inch to the edge and and then GONE! (Whew) i'm next. We scoot towards the edge. Even though we went through all the instructions, i forgot everything when I was hanging out of the plane. I remember looking down... and then just FALLING. That initial fall is so amazing. Its like the rollarcoaster drop but it seems to go on forever. IT was at this moment that i realized that i couldn't turn back. I just went with it. ( i really didn't have a choice..). After a few seconds, you don't really feel like you're falling. The views were amazing. An alpine lake surrounded by mountains with little puffy clouds everywhere... SO AMAZING!!

Then the parachute is pulled. Its then that i realize how fast we were falling. (125mph) There we were, just dangling in the air above everything, surrounded by nothing. That was an amazing feeling. We did some twirling tricks and i was able to take some pics and then we were on the ground. IT all happened so quickly. I would definately do it again!!
